Hi,
My name is Mary Kate and I graduated in 2007 from New York University with a BFA in drama specializing in experimental theater which included work with masks, puppets and movement. While studying I was employed in the build shop as a Props Assistant and built, borrowed and restored props for the mainstage shows. During my last two years of school I discovered that I had an intense interest in puppets, both building and performing and I held several internships with puppet companies such as Basil Twist and Encyclopedia Pictura (where I worked on the Bjork music video "Wanderlust"). Since graduating I have been a freelance Props Designer for several Chicago area theaters including Drury Lane, the Metropolis Performing Arts Center and Light Opera Works. My most recent project was puppeteering for a children's eco-friendly puppet DVD called Mr. Furry Fur Fur and his Friendly Earth Friends.
