Lavina Jadhwani is a Chicago-based director and dramaturg. She holds a BFA in Drama and Masters in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, she is an Associate Artist at Silk Road Theatre Project and the Artistic Director of Rasaka Theatre Company. She also serves on the Steering Committee for the South Asian Theatre Arts Movement. Lavina was a finalist for the Luce Scholars Program, the Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship and the 3Arts Artist Awards.
Lavina’s work has been seen at Apple Tree Theatre, Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, Infamous Commonwealth Theatre, Lifeline Theatre, Next Theatre, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, the side project, Stage Left and Victory Gardens Theater. As an assistant director, she has worked with Barbara Gaines, Frank Galati, Henry Godinez, Steve Scott, Di Trevis and Chay Yew. Lavina is a recipient of the 2007 LMDA Residency Award for her work at the Silk Road Theatre Project and received Kennedy Center/ACTF Dramaturgy Awards for her work on Arcadia and Urinetown at Carnegie Mellon. She has taught classes in directing, design, and stage management at the prestigious National High School Institute at Northwestern University (the “Cherub” program), an intensive theatre arts training program for high school seniors, Reizenstein Middle School, and the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.
